Back-to-School ConnectED Conference 2026: Full Schedule

This workshop is designed to guide you through imaginative world-building through various art and writing techniques. Aimed to help you teach your students to explore imagination, visualization, and storytelling, the workshop is open to any content area and any grade-level. Artist and art teacher Haley Nichols will teach you how to engage the five senses to create immersive environments to build characters, setting, and concepts through accessible art making and journaling prompts.

This session will provide a framework unit plan for teaching film analysis with a final product of a writing assessment. This unit works best for novels that have been adapted into a film, and although it uses simple materials, the final assessment promotes a rigorous higher level of thinking.
